Learn to eFoil on the world’s most innovative and safest electric hydrofoil, found aboard many luxury yachts across the Mediterranean.
The Audi e-tron foil by Aerofoils is the premium eFoil range developed and manufactured in Germany. Atomic EV is first in the Asia-Pacific to offer lessons on the Aerofoils Adventure and Performance eFoils across seven locations with experienced trainers.
We have allocated a limited number of these eFoils for training, and they are highly sought after for corporate and private training events. Please contact us if you have limited time options available.
Aerofoils Academy Locations
We offer an extensive range of locations around the Auckland region where you can learn on our Aerofoils eFoils, depending on your experience and interests, and whether you’d like to combine your Aerofoils experience into a larger package in a stunning location.
While we try to meet location preferences the location ultimately depends on the weather, tides, and trainer availability.
Aerofoils EFoil Options
At most locations we offer two Aerofoils eFoil options for you to choose between at no additional charge. The Adventure 103 litre is the standard choice for beginners wanting to learn how to eFoil, and the Performance 83 litre for those with previous water sports experience or lighter weight.
If you’re looking to buy an eFoil but are unsure whether to choose from the Aerofoils or the Flite range contact us to arrange your lesson with a customised combination of eFoils from both the leading brands.
EFoil Trainers
We have a range of experienced trainers that will help you get foiling, have fun and build your confidence and skills, even if you have no previous water sports experience.
- Arnaud is keen on all water sports and a very experienced kite surfer. When the wind is too low for his kites you’ll see him eFoiling off the North Shore beaches.
- Colin is our most experienced eFoil trainer, and has been riding and building his own eFoils for many years. His usual eFoil spots are around the Eastern beaches.
- Gene is from the Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei hapu, and is a very experienced surfer and former surfboard instructor. He usually starts from his local Ohaku Bay and cruises around the harbour.

EFoil Safety
All our locations have Maritime New Zealand approval for the safety measures we put in place, our eFoils are certified for training and trainers are all first-aid certified and themselves experienced eFoilers.
But please note that eFoiling is an adventure activity with a degree of risk due to falls and collisions, risks which we strive to minimise but which cannot be completely eliminated. All clients will receive a comprehensive safety briefing and provided with a helmet and impact vest which must be worn at all times while on the water. Clients must obey the trainer instructions at all times.
We strongly encourage clients to bring a wetsuit if they have one and a change of warm clothing. We can arrange wetsuits in most sizes free of charge with prior notice. Although winters in Auckland are comparatively mild even in summer it can be cool eFoiling while wet and weather conditions can change quickly. Clients should expect to be getting wet as falls are part of the process of learning to eFoil.
Before the Aerofoils Lesson
Our trainer will provide all the necessary explanations on-shore before you go onto the water. But if you’d like to be extra prepared beforehand we’d suggest you may like to watch the following Aerofoils Academy videos before your lesson, particularly 05-08.
