Knox

Knox is a top British company specialising in the design and manufacturing of innovative body armour and apparel, mainly for motorcycling but also other adrenalin sports too.

Knox HQ is based in the beautiful Lake District in Cumbria and apparel is developed by a design team, based in the Knox Studio in London.

Knox has always had a pioneering spirit and has taken an innovative and unique approach to the development of motorcycle protection and apparel since it started, in 1981. For Knox making protection and apparel is so much more than just the next wonder material, more than just the science of kilo newtons, CE levels and impact testing, more than a CE certificate.

It’s a passion for making great products, seeking new materials, designing better feeling, better looking, better performing protection and apparel that work for riders on any ride, in any climate, on any bike.

It’s about the synergy between protection and motorcycle clothing, so they work in harmony.

Knox Protective Shirts

Knox offers an extensive range of armoured shirts, which are almost unique in providing both abrasion and impact protection as standard:

  • The Honister is their highest performance shirt with class AAA protection, the highest class for motorcycle protective garments, with level 2 armour in the back, shoulder and elbows.
  • The Urbane Pro is their most popular and versatile performance shirt with class AA protection, suitable for most motorcycle riding with level 2 armour in the back, shoulder and elbows.
  • The Action Pro is their slim class A protection, suitable for adrenaline sports including eBike, MTB and Off Road riders as well as those doing Snowsports, with level 2 armour in the back and level 1 armour in the shoulders and elbows.

All the armoured shirts can be paired with optional level 1 chest armour.

Knox match their armoured shirts with equivalent protection in their armoured trousers and jeans:

  • The Shield Spectra Denim are their pinnacle single-layer jeans with high-performance class AAA protection, with level 2 armour in the knee and level 1 in the hip.
  • The Urbane Pro are their most popular trousers, suitable for a wide range of riding, with level 2 armour in the knee and level 1 in the hip.
  • The Action Pro are their slim class A protection, with level 1 armour in the knee, hip, thigh and coccyx.

Knox outer layers are stylishly designed to fit over any style of Knox armoured shirt, so that the armoured shirt can be worn all year round.

Knox and Atomic EV

Atomic EV is the New Zealand authorised reseller for Knox protective gear, which we import ourselves directly from Britain and offer at the same price as in the UK.

We carry the complete Action Pro range in-store, which is particularly suitable for situations where CE-certified protection is required, but the armour needs to be lightweight and not restrict the range of motion. This makes it ideal for all types of riding and adrenalin sports, on and off road riding, snowsports and faster PEVs.

In 2024 we are extending our in-store Knox selection to include the AA certified Urbane Pro range with level 2 protection, which is very popular amongst the UK motorcycle community.

We also accept orders for the AAA certified Honister and Shield Spectra ranges with lead times of 2-6 weeks for delivery. We welcome you to discuss your protective gear requirements with us.

Knox Warranty

Knox provide a standard one-year warranty for garments and five-year warranty on the microlock armour within garments.
