Protective Gear
EFoils are generally very safe provided some basic guidelines are followed, particularly to fall away from the board when coming off.
Watersport certified helmets are recommended, particularly while learning, when riding alone or in challenging conditions. Being a water sport a personal flotation device (PFD) is also advisable.
Atomic EV stocks both the official Flite and Aerofoils PFD. We also have the range of popular Predator water helmets and the Aerofoils helmets by Ion.
Learning to Ride an EFoil
EFoils are a lot of fun to ride, and many people can achieve foiling on their knees or standing within the first session. Quicker to master than kitesurfing or regular foiling, riding an eFoil feels like flying above water.
Atomic EV offers an extensive range of paid training session with our instructors. When you book you can specify if you’ve specific preferences on what eFoil(s) you’d like to try during the lesson and the location of the lesson. We’ll contact you to coordinate the lesson time, best fitting helmet and PFD, or else you can drop by our Orakei shop to try some sizes before your lesson.
