Helmets

Regardless of speed its essential to have certified head protection whenever riding. Atomic EV stocks quality helmets from reputable manufacturers that have all been tested to meet relevant safety certifications.

We are the authorised New Zealand reseller for Canadian Predator helmets and US skateboarding giant Triple8, and also stock the Leatt and Thousand bike gear brands.

The Predator helmets are extremely lightweight with excellent visibility, anti-fog and ability to hear surroundings. They were originally developed for high-speed downhill longboard riding and are very popular amongst the electric unicycle and electric skateboard communities. The Leatt Gravity range were developed for downhill mountain bike riding, so emphasis is on ventilation and reducing weight, whereas the Leatt Moto range is instead certified as motorcycle helmets. The Triple 8 certified helmets are the helmets of choice for many professional skateboarders, with a range of colours and signature edition models. The Thousand helmets have a dial fit system and a retro-inspired design.

Protective Clothing

Having quality protective clothing is important at higher speeds, particularly body armour for impact protection and on road riding a material certified for abrasion protection.

We are the authorised New Zealand importer and reseller for top UK motorcycle gear brand Knox. Knox specialises in the design and manufacturing of innovative body armour and apparel, mainly for motorcycling but also for other adrenaline sports, including enduro, skiing, EUC, electric skateboard and onewheel riding. We also stock Leatt protective gear, a leading manufacturer worldwide of moto and mountain bike protective gear.

Protective Pads and Gloves

At moderate recreational speeds the inconvenience of wearing full body protective clothing is not usually necessary. Instead pads are used to absorb impact at key parts of the body, especially the knees, elbows and wrists. Although head injuries due to lack of wearing a helmet can be very serious, the most common injury for many action sports is to the wrist, so wrist protection is more important than many people realise.

Atomic EV stocks a very extensive range of comfortable gloves/wrist guards and pads for a wide range of budgets and sports, including skateboarding, mountain biking, EUC and electric skateboard riding, onewheeling, enduro and motorcycling.

Protective Gear

Atomic EV takes safety very seriously, and our personal electric vehicles all carry a risk of falls or ejection, especially when used inappropriately or with a lack of adequate experience.

Besides selling and standing behind the quality of PEV we sell we also have New Zealand’s largest range of protective gear for PEV riders, offered at or below typical overseas retail prices.

We are authorised New Zealand retailers for leading brands, including Flatland 3D, Knox, Leatt, Predator Helmets, Thousand and Triple 8, half of which are available in New Zealand exclusively through Atomic EV.

Although we try to ensure our sizing guidelines are accurate, heads and limbs come in many shapes and sizes so its best when possible to try the gear for yourself in our shop to ensure your selection has best fit and comfort.

Shipping

For those customers that are unable to visit our Orakei shop in Auckland we do provide free shipping across New Zealand as explained below.

Most North Island deliveries are received by customers within 2-4 business days, and South Island approximately 3-7 days. We try to ship by land and sea where practical to reduce our carbon footprint and use recycled packaging. You will receive e-mail order acknowledgements and tracking details when you order has been placed and when it has been sent. Please remember we are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so orders received on Sunday evenings might not be packed for shipping until the next Wednesday.

All protective gear purchased on our web site is shipped free of charge to any New Zealand residential address. Please check the sizing guidelines carefully before purchase. If you require shipping to a rural or other non-residential address please just get in touch with us before placing your order and we’ll try to find an economical means of sending the gear to you.

We also provide free shipping for our entire range of personal electric vehicles, including eFoils, electric unicycles, and electric skateboards, across most of New Zealand. Where feasible we try to ship directly to New Zealand residential addresses. However, depending on the destination, freight forwarder, PEV weight and value, we may need to ship instead to a freight warehouse located nearest your address. This is often the case for PEV that weigh over 25 kg or are over $2000 in value. Locations of these warehouses include Whangarei, Albany, Takapuna, Newmarket, Avondale, Manukau, Tauranga, Hamilton, New Plymouth, Napier, Palmerston North, Wellington, Nelson, Papanui, Riccarton, Dunedin and Queenstown. You can then either pick up from the warehouse or yourself arrange forward delivery and insurance to another address. Please just contact us if you have any questions.

We also provide PEVs and gear across the South Pacific, including to Australia, Fiji and French Polynesia, and can provide guidance with shipping options.
