Rides Like a Bike
Many eBikes place their motors and batteries in positions that are easiest and/or cheapest, with little regard to the effects on the rider experience. Frame geometry and weight distribution are pivotal in electric bike design, optimising rider comfort and bike handling. The carefully calculated angles and weight placement on Project BMX lower the centre of gravity, enhancing stability and control, especially at higher speeds or during tight maneuvers. This balance allows for a natural riding posture and facilitates intuitive control, improving the interaction between rider and machine.
Keeping it Real
EBikes can be big, bulky, and a little bit ugly. Project BMX has painstakingly retained the iconic BMX spirit, seamlessly nestling the battery within the seat and embedding a potent mid-drive motor into the frame. The outcome? A sophisticated, perfectly balanced old-school BMX aesthetic that’s guaranteed to draw attention. Project BMX is crafted with premium Chromoly frame and fork tubing courtesy of Tange. It’s not just a ride but a robust statement of quality.
Battery
Introducing a distinctive 36V battery system intricately designed to seamlessly integrate with the Project BMX drive system. The battery pack achieves an ideal harmony between range and power, discreetly nesting within the saddle to preserve the classic BMX cruiser frame aesthetic. This innovative system facilitates effortless battery swapping, empowering riders to expand their adventures with added range.
Crafted in collaboration with Velo, the bespoke saddle seamlessly merges traditional adjustability, comfort, and innovation. It incorporates a built-in rail and lock mechanism, providing a secure home for the Evolve 36V Battery.
Why Mid-Drive?
Using a mid-mounted motor in Project BMX goes far beyond maintaining aesthetics. This kind of motor offers substantial benefits over hub drive systems found on cheaper electric bikes.
The mid-drive allows for optimal weight distribution for handling, a smoother and more natural pedal assist feeling, and eliminates the drawbacks of adding rotational mass to the rear wheel. They are also quieter, and being connected directly to the crank increases the motor’s efficiency to make the most of the bike’s range.
The Frame
The frame design prioritises both comfort and bike control. Collaborating with Tange, a revered name in the bicycle industry with over 90 years of expertise in quality chrome, multi-tubing, and high-end engineering, ensured excellence.
Crafted from Chromalloy, the frame achieves a delicate balance, offering lightness without compromising strength. The mellow 70-degree head tube angle facilitates smooth turns, complemented by a 26-inch standover height for user-friendly access, suitable for individuals five foot four and above.
Control
The sleek, waterproof LED display keeps riders informed about the ride while being discreet enough to maintain the overall aesthetics of the simple BMX style.

Skyway Tuffs
Skyway Tuff Wheels, proudly crafted in Baldwyn, Mississippi, embody American craftsmanship. Utilising a unique Zytel Nylon blend, they stand as the firmest plastic wheels.
With 45 years in the industry, Skyway is integral to retro BMX, seamlessly enhancing Project BMX’s aesthetic. The Project BMX hub mount, compatible with a disk rotor on Skyway Tuffs, achieves a timeless appearance while enabling the use of front and rear hydraulic disc brakes.
